Uniforms Debate

My school is pushing for uniforms for the next school year. That is my graduating year of high school, and it is going to suck that I will have to celebrate my last year of grade school in ill-fitting khakis and heavy polo shirts.

I really want to fight the issue of uniforms because it is not a necessary evil. It is not going to help behavioral issues. It not going change young boys' mindset of women. It is not going to change boys sagging there pants. You are solving nothing.

Improve test scores, you say? Ha, ha no. Tell me how that can be directly proven. More teachers are obligated to check dress code sacrificing valuable instructional time. I have seen more students in detention due to dress code than without it. I have been in detention one time, throughout my whole school career. That one time was due to not wearing my uniform correctly. Honestly, there is way more pressing issues than uniforms. Administration should have concerned with teachers getting cursed out by students. They should have been more focused on an education no matter what you were wearing. Education should be the main focus not the article of clothing on your body.

Increased attendance, you say? Sorry, but you are sadly mistaken. Uniforms may improve readiness time, but there is a lake of motivation to get up in the morning, in the first place. Students will find no reason to get excited for school. Personally, I would get up early to get ready if I was excited about a new dress I got. I had a sense of self-pride. I had a better body positive image of myself. Uniforms can be depressing. I never felt pretty in an uniform. Schools should encourage body positive not conformity.

Prisons strip identity. Should school do this too? I thoughts schools were supposed to promote
individuality. I thought school was supposed to be a safe place to express yourself.

No bullying, you say? I'm very sorry to say, but bullying is always going to an issue. Bullying may be reduced, but bullying is always going to be present. People have their insecurities, and they lash out on others that are different. There will always be differences between students. Race. Religion. Culture. Gender. There is always judgmental attitudes. Uniforms are not sheltering your kid from the injustice in the world. I'm sorry for being straight forward. I'm just very passionate with the no uniforms movement.
She went from this...

To this
Helps people in poverty, you say? Parents may not feel obligated to pay for the latest fad in fashion, but what about the latest fad in technology? You have to have the new phone, right? What about name brand shoes? The Nikes? The Jordans? What about the best hair? What about the new makeup fad? There will always be that social competition.

If the administration doesn't change there mind, I'm going to have to spark some creativity into my uniform. Remember that episode of It's so Raven where she decked out her uniform to protest. Technically, she did not break any rules and she still looked fabulous. That's what I'm going to do.

Uniforms provide no benefit. Period. Honestly, I believe they are more of a hassle. My opinion is very basis, I agree. If you would like to comment your personal opinion, I encourage it. I would love to hear your opinion of the debate about uniforms.

I'm fed up with the public education system. Common core to uniforms. Foul play across the board.

One of those days

It hasn't even been a good few days since I started my writing goal. I'm already drawing a blank.

I have ideas but I'm still drawing a blank. I have many drafts but none of them are "right". They are not wrapped in a nice package and ready for reading. They are in their raw state of writing. They look extremely rough.

A sentence here. A fragment there. Gibberish everywhere.

It's one of those days where nothing seems good. I'm still writing though. I'm keeping my promise, and I'm talking through my frustration through my writing.

Writing is very therapeutic for me. It is all very tranquil. This is one of reasons why I started writing again. I wanted to encourage myself to reflect on my life.

Blogging is very hard. I have to sit myself down and encourage myself to write my thoughts on virtual paper. Sometimes I just don't want to. However, I know it's for the best. You have to look at the big picture.

Farwell, I might have a better post for you guys tomorrow. Alright bye.

College Search: The Drama

Is it really time to start thinking about college?

This is a debatable topic that many struggle over. And I know I want to go to college but I don't why. I know I'm supposed to. I know the outcome. I know it matters but why does it manner?

Sometimes college looks like a happy place to explore. Other times college looks like another hoop to jump through.

I feel conflicted.

I do, I do want to go to college. I just wish I never if I was ready or not when the opportunity comes in the near future. I hope I'm ready. I wish I didn't doubt myself--not my ability but my commit.

I don't want to waste my time getting a degree that I don't want nor wish to prosper in.

I think my main concern is fear. Fear that I won't enjoy what I do. Fear that I will not like my field.  Fear that something better is out there and I didn't find it.

I know that college is pretty cool but I just want to know if I'm there for the right reasons.

I have been taking various tests determining possible college majors. Most of them end of with engineering and mathematical careers. I looked into engineering as you may know but now I'm second-guessing everything. EVERYTHING.

I am conflicted.

I dunno.

Don't listen to me.

I'm just thinking out loud.

I'll be back with a fun post soon.

Computer Class

Normally when I go to my first class we do tons busy work which doesn't really have any real meaning behind it.

I guess you can't wish for much when it comes to a computer class that doesn't have up to date computers. It is such a cliche; I find it strangely funny.

I had this brilliant opportunity in computer class a few weeks ago to write about anything I wanted. We could write a short story, poem, or song.

I took this as my chance to truly write what I wanted.  I toggled over ideas that would be labeled as typical: your idol, your high school experience so far, things you like, and even your favorite thing about yourself. Nothing seemed to spark my interest.

I then googled types of poems. I was sure I was going to write a poem. I saw familar poems and some layouts that I tried before. I stumbled upon a poem that uses mostly questions. It was a format that I heard of but never attempted.

Now, I had a layout plan. Then, I thought about things that I questioned.

Finally, I had my poem.  I printed and turned my paper in. I think was awesome and spot on. Simple and sweet. What do you think?

Here's my poem:
Questions
Why am I writing this?
A project?
An assigned paper?
Maybe I actually found a piece of inspiration,
Hidden among the loads of busy work?
Maybe I found a reason to actually try?
Maybe I looked at a goal, and really tried to succeed?
Perhaps I was so tired of the same repetitive nonsense
That I jumped on a chance to be creative?
To write my true thoughts?
To explain my point of view?
Maybe because this is simply what I was told to do?
An assigned paper?
A project?

Why am I writing this?

I wonder what my teacher thought. I should have asked him.

See you in my next post.

Bye.

PSAT

Hey, everyone

Recently I took the PSAT test which standing for the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test. It is test made by a the college board. A lot of high school students take each year and some middle school students too. My school campus only allows high school students to take the PSAT though.
Anyway, the test was such a drag at the beginning because the teacher had to read this endless list of notes about how to fill in the answer sheet which was pretty self-explanatory: your name, ethnicity, and date of birth. The guidance counselors spent a whole hour checking everyone in and explaining the redundant answering sheet.

I found it very interesting that we had to write and sign a sentence that stated that we weren't in no way going to distribute the test in any form.

After handling all the pretest obligations we got started right way. Every time I neared the the end of the section I had about five minutes left and then I reviewed my test. Once I was satisfied I closed my booklet and then waited. I didn't want to second guess myself too much so I won't go back a second time and review my test.

After three long hours since the start we were done. Done.

I seemed exhausted for no logical reason. I taken many tests before but this test was just so boring. And most tests aren't a problem for me with the boredom issue. I usually am very calm waiting. This time I was just ready to get out there.

The rest of the day was very relaxing though. It was was an easy day afterwards which was nice. I think the teacher half way wanted to give us a break or didn't want to make a lesson plan for the day. Whatever.

See ya in the next post.

More information on the PSAT if you want to know more about. (it can help you get scholarships)

Recipe: Yummy. Easy. Sweet.

Today, I made some Monkey Munch or Puppy Chow (whatever you want to call it). It is pretty much nameless. Before you arch your eyebrows up and wonder what I'm talking about, let me tell you what Monkey Munch is. (Someone really needs to give it a new name).

Basically, it is Chex Cereal dipped in chocolate and peanut butter. Then, it is completely covered in powdered sugar.  Doesn't just sound divine. Sugar.  The Chex Company, after years of making it at home, actually created the product and named it Muddies Buddies (that doesn't sound good either).

I can literally make this in ten minutes and have twice as much and half the price. Look at me; I'm being frugal today. Today, I halved the recipe though. I didn't want to make too much. Plus, we didn't have enough powder sugar to coat it all. I was so sad. I'm putting it on the grocery list for next time. My mom is doing this new thing where we grocery shop every two weeks. It supposed to save money and it does save money (guess you know where my new-found frugal-ness comes from).

Recipe Time:
Yeah, my Monkey Munch doesn't look this pretty
since we didn't have enough powder sugar.
But it is still tasty!

Ingredients:
9 cups Chex cereal (any kind)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter, melted
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 -2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions:
1.Measure cereal in large bowl.
2. Set aside.
3. Microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter for 1 minute on high.
4. Stir.
5. Cook for 30 seconds longer or until smooth.
6. Add vanilla.
7. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until coated.
8. Pour mixture into large Ziploc bag and add powdered sugar.
9. Shake until well coated.
10.Spread on waxed paper to cool.
11.Store in Ziploc bags or large sealed bowl.

Recipe Note: It helps to add cereal mixture a little at a time if you only have small bags.

I'm thinking about making a big tub of it when the holidays comes closer and sharing it with my friends. They'll love it. Anybody else have some easy to make sweeties. I love suggestions.

Reaction to my 1st post

Yeah, I never thought this moment would come where I made a reaction video but the time has come. Recently, I was scouting for a new blog topic and came a course reaction video. I skipped over it but then came back to it thinking it would be a good idea since my first post was a video.

I never really liked reaction videos but I thought I'll give it a try.

Basically, I cringed the whole time and critic my past self. It was pretty awful but this video isn't all that good either.

Enjoy, I guess.

Oh, yeah and I almost forgot. Here's the link to watch my first blog post.  That way you can watch the video with me and can both cringe together.

I can't believe that it's been about 10 months since I started my blog. Time flies.

See you in the next post. Bye.

Goals

Hey everybody.

It been days since I blogged due to my new obsession The Sims and I had a nasty little virus on my computer.  It was awful. Both the virus and the obsession.

I have a problem. Why are those little people made of pixels so interesting? Today, I told myself that I will not play at all because I wanted to dedicate myself to my writing and exercising. I'm still trying to reach my goal of 1,000 miles. I haven't actually set a date to finish the miles. But I'm hoping that It's by March. That would make it two years since I started which is really sad, but I could still say I did it.

AND I still want to write a novel and publish by the time I graduate high school. That's almost two years away. AND I haven't even thought of a worthy idea to make into  novel.  AND publishers are tough.

Breath.

This actually why  I put the 1000 miles as a goal.Walking/running makes me calm down in a way. I shouldn't be abusing my way of relaxation by setting a goal and beating myself to complete it.

I think that sounded too harsh. I didn't mean for it sound soooooo harsh. Honest. Everyone is probably saying "Calm down, girl. You're still young."

AND that's how I resorted to the Sims, I think. I can screw up their lives and not take any chances with mine. I can blow their budgets and throw parties every other day. I make them quit their job and constantly enjoy life.
One of my Sims even created a novel and their only problem was to make sure their basic needs were in check: hunger, bladder, sleep and hygiene.

Ugh. They make it look so easy.

Blue Jays! (The annoyance of sports)

This guy is cheering for his daughter's team shouting "BBBBBLUUUUUEE JJJJAAAAYS!"
I just sitting here wondering how does he get his voice to sound so loud. So very loud. It sounds like it is big booming speaker screaming blue jays.
This school's bleachers are just crazy old school. Like wood, old school. When have I ever seen wooden bleachers in such a setting. Never.

I want to look up one the names scribbled into the bleachers but I'm afraid I'm going to find some weird fourth year old on Facebook. Most of the names are really worn out so they are barely legible. I'm pretty sure that these are originally to the school. No wait. I'm absolutely positive.

I sound like an old person when I say this but they don't make 'em like this anymore.
The blue jays are starting to lose (the opposing team) and I'm supposed to say I'm excited for their failure but I'm not. I don't really care.

Anyway, since the theme here has been surrounded my sport related things I thought I make a list of some of the funniest sport quotes to make me feel better because I really don't care to be here:

1. "If practice makes perfect, and no one is perfect, why practice?" -Derek P

2. "The important thing is not winning, it's making everyone else lose."-Stacy Aguilar

3. "Hunting is not a sport. in a sport both sides should know they're in a game"- unknown

4. "Real men date cross country runners. Catch one if you can"- Unknown

5. " If you want to come in second...follow me!"-Unknown

(Quotes are one of my favorite things about life- I love them so much)

Communication skills

On Friday, I was staying after school for tutoring. well, I wouldn't call it tutoring. I would call it extra help for this big test coming up about our "Summer reading" book, The Stealth of Nations. You could learn more about my frustrations with this book here and here. I use the term "summer reading" loosely because my teacher's communication skills aren't the best and failed to contact people about the book. In return, he said he would push the test back. This is good thing because I get extra days to study and prep fro the test. He even decided to have studying and tutoring sessions. I didn't  go to the first two thinking that I get the  gist of those chapters. I finally decided to buckle myself down and go to the chapter 9&10 session. I knew for sure that my teacher was going to drop hints and basically give us the answers on the test so I was ready to take notes and everything.

My friend and I  decided to go with me to the tutoring so we both went to the class after the last bell rang. We stalled a little bit but decided to go. We sat down and three other people were in there. We put down our stuff. I pulled out my book all ready to learn. The teacher started talking and said he was tired and didn't want to do the tutoring today. He gave us a fake yawn and everything. We laughed and sat down. He went back to clicking away on his computer.

A few minutes later the three of them left. The teacher was still clicking around on his computer. I pointed to my watch and then to the teacher. My friend shrugged. I asked my teacher if he was serious earlier about no tutoring today. He said yeah, I was serious. Bye.

I stood there shocked out of mind. What does he mean, tutoring is cancelled? I thought he was being sarcastic earlier. He's always sarcastic! You can tell how sarcastic he is because I italicized, underlined, and made "always" bold.

I told him I had my thinking cap on and was ready to learn. All he said in return without looking up from his computer was sorry. He let us sit there for twenty minutes.

The crazy man. He gets on my absolute nerves.

Both our rides weren't going to be there until an hour later so we went to my sister's practice which was boring as usual. I rather not go into detail about that. It's not important to the story.

When practice ended, my friend's ride was there. Our dad still was no where to be found. I called him and he said he was still at work and he would be there in 25 minutes. I didn't really care to hear that. He was supposed to be here already. I reminded him. My sister reminded him. My mom reminded him. By the way, he got there in 28 minutes.

All I did while I waited was roll my eyes and become angrier by the second. I was so mad. Nothing was going as planned.

I guess you could tell everyone's communication skills were just not working that day.

So annoying

I just got picked up from school and my grandfather zoomed off to the hospital. It wasn't an emergency, no. Just a check up for m grandmother. I don't want to get into that though. Anyway, we zoomed off to sit across frm the hospital to wait in the car. Just to wait until my grandmother comes out from her appointment. It is so annoying I can't seem to grasp the idea of why we have to sit in the steamng hot car just get the call that's she is done.

Now we done this a million times before. Where my grandfather drops her off and sits in the parking garage, some random spot, or drives in endless circles. I just don't get wh he can't drop her off and go back to house and wait until she calls and says she is done or even almost done if she doesn't want to wait for about fifteen minutes. Better yet she could drive herself. She is perfectly capable if doing that. I even questioned them of their methods 'dropping off people' and they never really answer my question.

And I been taught not to question adults too much. My teacher begs to differ. He says asking why is the greatest things to do and society has ruined it by answering with because I said so.

Now I'm really mad because not only is hot out here but apparently a mosquito got in here and chewed up my arm I got bite three times on my left arm while I was typing away on he first paragraph. That sucks. I get chewed up so easily. the main reasons why I dislike outside: insects and the weather.

Moving back on topic, we are still waiting for
my wonderful grandmother to show up and put herself in the passenger seat so we can go over to their house. Today out lucky spot is behind the hospital by a construction zone. My grandfather and brother must look like spectors to the amazing sport of people watching. They pulled out chairs and everything.

Yup, that's not awkward at all.

We are parked pretty close to the sign that says hard hat zone. And right beside that sign is a port-a-potty: I hate the smell and constant reminder that I have to pee. Nobody even told me that I was getting dragged along to this; I they had I would have been prepared. I quests I'll stop ranting because my granddaddy just said she'll be done in five minutes.

Sitting on the sidelines

Hey everyone. I'm out here sitting on the sidelines of the soccer feild again. Yup it's funny how my life seems to he this planned out schedule type of deal.

His time of year is soccer and volleyball season which kind of sucks for me since I get dragged along to each practice (more or less).

I try not be one of those constant complainers but this is just one of those things that really bother me. I just hate it how they don't want to participate or go to practices but want to play the sport. It's either all or nothing. I don't like it when people do partial crap.

This especially gets on my nerves how my sister dislikes her coach and gets mad every practice but continues to go to every practice. Why do something that claims to make you miserable?

I understand that everyone wants their off days but you can't just dismiss everything you have to do to until the game and except to win if you are a competitive person like my sister.

Ever.

My brother on the other hand doesn't really care about winning or losing that much when he plays sports but don't ever mess with him when he lost one of his lives in a video game. Ever.

That's my little rambling for the day. Bye. See you later.

Chaos of the First Day of School

I went back to school toady. I can't really tell you much I wasn't ready to go back to school. Every year I have an excuse to not want to go back. The main reason this year was that I had to go back to school earlier than I did last year. Last year, the main reason I didn't want to go back to school was that I was becoming a freshmen and didn't know much about being a high-schooler. I was fresh meat not a freshman.

It is always a reason and probably always will be a reason.

This year I got some tough teachers from what I hear and what my impression from them. I know for a fact that a lot teachers come off tough but they are really nice. This one teacher when he shut the door just started laughing. It was a very creepy laugh too. He was laughing because someone had their phone out trying to "secretly" text. He kind of reminded me of Mr. Crocker from Fairly Odd Parents minus the hunched back and obsession with fairies. The tall skinny legs. The glasses. The haircut. The laugh. The impossible class to ace unless you're AJ which was the guy sitting in the chair by the corner. He stole all the awards last year and left me with zip.

I also have this other teacher that wants the impossible and strangest things for her class. Why do we need post-it notes and graph paper composition notebook? I'm in Chemistry not math class. Someone please explain.

Also for some apparent reason these upperclassmen are so superior. I just want to knock  them down a level since I have a ton of classes with all grades. I hope I don't come off as a jerk like other people do to the freshmen.

A lot of people had their schedules screwed. People had three different 5th periods. How does the school miss that?

Bottom line is the first day of school is chaos. This post is chaos and I'm tired of talking about school for now. Bye.
True...

In virtual class

I'm in a virtual class right now and  I'm of like 4 people. It really interesting: the concept of virtual class. I always thought this how I would want my class in real life. I don't think so anymore. Yeah I can eat and switch over to my blog and type here.

We are talking about that summer reading book. Yup, the book that I totally dissed. And then turned around and said that I love the author.

My teacher is great (hope my teacher isn't reading this) but he is talker. He is the book Neuwirth. (the rambler). I believe that if you ramble on about something in extreme detail, you are passionate about that topic. And my teacher is highly passionate.
So that's what I was up to for the day.

At the end of the book talk, I felt exhausted. I don't know why. It was actually like I was in class. It kind of disgusted me in a way. It was like how dare you turn my comfy home into some type of learning environment with your face on my screen when I'm supposed to be eating junk food while watching TV.

Joking aside, my teacher actually helped me understand and have a richer understanding about the book. He's awesome, but I can tell we're going to debate about certain topics.

(Wish me good luck because this teacher actually wants to teach. His class is going to be hard but worth it.)

Summer Reading Projects

I love reading, but summer reading projects are not the same. It's called summer break for a reason.

A teacher picks out this boring book that you end up having to do a report or take a test about. Usually after you read the book and take a test over it, you never hear about that book again. Then it pops up on the final exam and your like: I don't remember anything from that book. What was the name of it again?

That's me. I been reading this book called The Stealth of Nations. It is about the economy and stuff like that. It is really boring and it's not because of the topic. It is because of the author. The way he writes seems like you're in a conversation with a very interesting person, but he's super boring. He's a details man. He rambles. He says the same thing like three times and then moves to a complete opposite standpoint. It is like he's having a conversation with himself and your on the side nodding in agreement with him.

Personal, I lost interest in the book and it has been such a drag reading it. I think this 258-small-print-paged book could be chopped in half and still made sense and have all the information in it.

After reading a good 40 pages on the book I found Neuwirth, the author, on this website talking about his book to an audience in Europe. After watching the video, I had a new respect. Watching him on that stage, it made the book earlier to understand. In that 15 minutes of talking he basically summed up his book.

His book doesn't seem like him. He is not a rambler or boring. I think it is time I give this book a second chance. (Plus, my grade depends on it. I have no choice.)

TV show series

Today I finally finished a TV show series that was put on Netflix: Jane by Design. It was good and I hate how so many questions went unanswered and the show got canceled (such a shame). I was so bored about what to do next.
It was like my life was non existent without a screen shoved in my face.

This was just like the time I watched all the Lizzie Bennet Diaries in two days or when I watched all the seasons of Make it or Break it in a week. I don't know why  I do this type of stuff to myself, but you get caught up in the story and next thing you know it ends.

You been part of this person's life. And the thing is, I would never watch that type of stuff when it first came out.

I like how you can click and there's the next episode. You don't have to wait. That's what makes those episodes so appealing. Then you get attached to the characters and the show's actual idea. The first appeal is watching it at your own will and knowing that all the episodes are right there.

It is sad that all good things must come to an end or does it.
Yup, I think it does.  So far it always has.

Boarding my dog.

Hey everyone,

I was on vacation last Saturday through Wednesday. It was...different. Besides the point of my experience which I'll talk about in later post, I wanted to talk my dog's first experience with boarding.

We dropped our dog, Bandit, off Saturday at a small boarding place which was actually on a road that was named Barker. It was a cute little cabin and seemed like an actual vacation for Bandit. Honestly, I didn't know what to think about the process and the way Bandit was going to react.

The minute we walked in the place it was three other people that trailed behind us with their dogs. Bandit being his obvious overly friendly self wanted to basically wanted to harass the other dogs. It was these two small adorable dogs. They looked like they were mocking Bandit and really want to play with him.

The other lady with this lab that kind of looked like Bandit since he is a lab mix just sat there looking at the chaos. This fuzzy dog, I forgot the breed, snapped at the tiny dog and the owner took her outside.

A worker finally came out and started checking Bandit in. She asked about the food amount and that was it. That was it. I thought they would ask other questions even though we set up the time and stuff. It was strange. one of the tiny dogs started to poop on the floor like it was completely normal. After that little scene was cleaned up, Bandit excitedly followed a worker to his suite.

Face palm

I had have an lot of awkward moments, but I prefer to call them random acts of clumsy stupidity.

For example, last night when I was dreaming I walking down a hallway and bumped into someone. I looked at them and said excuse me. In reality I rolled over in my bed and said excuse me to a wall. I was half sleep, but I clearly I was still acting insane.

Then today I got up from my laptop to get my ear buds because of courtesy reasons. I thought they were in the living room in my purse. I went in my purse and came back to the room I was with a cookie. How did that happen? I had to go back into the living room to find them and then realize I had them in my back pocket the whole time.
Ugh.

I recently even a few minutes ago I even forgot some of my stuff at my grandparent's house. I just wanted to get out of there so bad and then they are going to call me and tell me that I left something over there when I obviously know I left it because I don't have it.

I also trip on multiple objects in the floor, almost run into doorways, and bump into things. I should probably watch my surroundings. Surprisingly, I don't have countless bruises and sores everywhere or done forgot/lost something of high importance that I never found again.

TIRED....

Last night, I could not go to sleep. My brain literally would not SHUT UP!
I literally kept telling myself "go to sleep". And my brain just doesn't like to listen to me. Seriously, I don't know what is that makes me not able to go to sleep. I'm not an insomniac. I'm not eating or drinking caffeine. I'm just this normal person trying to get some sleep. When I hit the pillow I except to fall asleep in a reasonable amount of time.

When I don't want to go sleep I am constantly almost falling over trying to stay up. I look like a zombie. A zombie. Then, I finally do go to sleep I wake up and have to pee. It is like my body is trying to make me annoyed. Then after I go to the bathroom. I have to start the process over again. The toss and turning. Trying to get my brain to shut up. Everything.

Then I finally go to sleep again. Then, my natural body alarm clock likes to wake me up at six instead for my actually alarm clock to wake me up at 6:30.

Then I try to hurry up and try to catch some z's before my alarm clock goes off and it really is time to get up.

I don't know what else to say because I am still a little tired right now. I guess you could call this a rant, but I'm just speaking my mind.
