College Sales Pitch

I personally think is essential to go to college to pursue my interests. I think to shape the caterer I want in the future, I need a degree. It's about that time in life where I have to start narrowing down the colleges I'm thinking about attending. I have a few universities in mind.

It is hard to narrow down colleges I would want attend due to my indecisiveness. Nothing seems to be the perfect front runner college of choice. Every college seems to be a school when all the extras are stripped away.

They all give you the same sales pitch that drives me insane. It makes me reconsider them after I already crossed them off my list. How do they all persuade you like that? I hate how the clear cut facts are never present during the actual tour. Give me the absolute honest, real-deal, truth. Please.

I want to make the right decision. And I know, there is no perfect school. There is none. Point, blank, period. Every school has their faults, I'm discovering. The thing I have to figure out is what matters to me in a school.

Do I want to go to a school thats a good value for the money? A place with good research opportunities, co-ops, and internships? One with good dorms? One with all the little special details (that unique factor)? One with an extremely active social life? Big campus? big enough to have events? Good town? Close to home?

These our just a few jumbled thoughts in my mind. I have all these questions that I'm asking myself. It's all too much to me.

Some websites that have really helped my search for good universities are the college board websiteand college factual. It is completely free.  However, you must make an account for it to save your results.

They break down the college-picking process and suggest colleges to fit your needs. I think it is a really cool option for those who are interested in the cold, hard facts of a college.

Thank you for reading. See you tomorrow.

Personality Test: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (INTJ)

By Definition: The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is an extensive questionnaire on the way people view and make decisions in the world. It also helps identify the personality type of an given person.

The mother-daughter team of Katherine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers created the questionnaire inspired by Carl Jung. The questionnaire was based off the four concepts of sensation, intuition, feeling, and thinking.

The opposite end of each spectrum became a letter. In total, it made sixteen personalities. I found this chart that illustrates the concept a little better:

http://mbtitoday.org/about-the-mbti-indicator/creation-of-the-mbti-types/

I found it extremely intriguing how accurate these personalities are at representing a person. It is amazing how a few questions can accurate portray a person's paersonality. The intensive research put into this study is phenomenal.

When taking the test myself I discovered my personality type was INTJ. Apparently that means I belong to the analyst group. I was a little surprised when the page told me that I had one the rarer personality types, but it makes sense "INTJs form just two percent of the population, and women of this personality type are especially rare, forming just 0.8% of the population - it is often a challenge for them to find like-minded individuals who are able to keep up with their relentless intellectualism and chess-like maneuvering" (16personalities.com). I never really found anyone that is a mirror image of me--personality wise. I have always had friends that share a few traits with me. They complement me as person, but they never seem like "twins".

I would never physically shoot anything.
It's a metaphor
Some famous INTJs are Martin Luther, Issac Newton, John F. Kennedy, Mark Zukerburg, Lewis Carroll, and Steven Hawking.

I even came across fictional characters that supposedly have the INTJ personality: Katniss Everdeen, Stewie Griffin, Mr. Darcy, Willy Wonka, and Sherlock. Fictional characters are up for debate. I have read many interpretations of INTJs in the fictional world. Feel free to add to or take anything away from the list. This topic is always up for debate.

The personality type of INTJ (Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judging) is very isolated and observing. I never realized how analytic and private I am as a person.

I am very reserved. Some people classify that as me being shy. I kindly disagree, I just don't care for the conversation. I rather be alone than in a crowd of people.

I glorify knowledge and rationality.  I side with the side of rational thinkers. The cliche "knowledge is power" applies to my life in every aspect.

INTJs unite! (It is probably a good thing that there is not too many INTJs in the world. They would probably battle for dominance and cause an intense world-wide war.)

I would to know your personalities type.  Here is the exact test that I took: http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test . I also took this test too: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp .I had to make sure my results were somewhat accurate. I even took a third test: http://www.truity.com/test/type-finder-research-edition

Feel free to leave your personality type in the comments. See you tomorrow.

OMG.

I'm back.

Long time, no see. Hello, my friend.

Its been a while...I haven't written a blog post for about a year. Almost a year. 320 days to be accurate. 7680 hours. 460,800 minutes. 27,648,000 seconds. That is crazy amount of time.
I kind of ventured off the path of writing. I used to love writing (fragments and typos included). I really wanted to get back into my writing, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I have no great excuse or sympathizing reason for my absence. To be honest, no one probably even realized I was even gone.

This is just an introductory post to my blog. Welcome. Some things are going to be changing around here.

I'm hoping if I write everything out, I will feel obligated to do it. So here goes nothing:

  •        I want to write everyday (even if I only publish one sentence)
  •        I want to inspire (that has been my goal since day one)
  •        Build "my brand" and promote myself
  •        Interact more with writing communities.

The list is short, but that doesn't mean it will be easy.  I'll see you tomorrow. If you have any good advice for beginning writers, I would love to know. How to stay motivated in my writing? How to stay persistent?  Where to find inspiration?

College Search: The Drama

Is it really time to start thinking about college?

This is a debatable topic that many struggle over. And I know I want to go to college but I don't why. I know I'm supposed to. I know the outcome. I know it matters but why does it manner?

Sometimes college looks like a happy place to explore. Other times college looks like another hoop to jump through.

I feel conflicted.

I do, I do want to go to college. I just wish I never if I was ready or not when the opportunity comes in the near future. I hope I'm ready. I wish I didn't doubt myself--not my ability but my commit.

I don't want to waste my time getting a degree that I don't want nor wish to prosper in.

I think my main concern is fear. Fear that I won't enjoy what I do. Fear that I will not like my field.  Fear that something better is out there and I didn't find it.

I know that college is pretty cool but I just want to know if I'm there for the right reasons.

I have been taking various tests determining possible college majors. Most of them end of with engineering and mathematical careers. I looked into engineering as you may know but now I'm second-guessing everything. EVERYTHING.

I am conflicted.

I dunno.

Don't listen to me.

I'm just thinking out loud.

I'll be back with a fun post soon.

Professionalism

It is something about the word professional that I use to loom towards. I use to be extremely attracted to the word. I associated professionalism with being a grow-up for a long time.  I learned over the years that professionalism slowly lost a lot of meaning for me.

Let me explain: I use to associate professionalism with poise, calmness, control, and 'the proper way to act'. The truth is when I stepped back from a blog that was very corporate I realized something.

My professional visualization was BORING!!!

Professionalism seemed so dull and plain. I wanted nothing to do with the clean white background of the blog. It instantly seemed to disgust me. A professional sense doesn't have to be bare.

Sure, professional means respectful and put-together. But where's the fun? Where the hint of humor? The real personality? Why so mean? Why does your respect have to be so closely associated with anger and yelling? Why so rude?

I get it but I don't get it.

I get that in certain situations the element of a corporate environment doesn't allow less than professionalism but people need to loosen up.

They need to quit the act and start living life without being such a stuck-up. Have some fun. Add LIFE to your LIFE.

Disappointed

I'm disappointed. i really wanted to volunteer at the library for my volunteering hours for the National Honors Society but my schedule can't fit with their hours. They basically said they couldn't find an opportunity to match my needs. I have to say I was kind of upset.

That was my number one choice, but sadly it is not meant to be. This is where I would enter the 'everything happens for a reason' cliche.

I searched and searched this local site for volunteer opportunities. i feel like i'm being too picky with this volunteer stuff. Yes, I should do something where I feel as though I am happy to serve, but I read something earlier about familiarity.

"You have to be comfortable being uncomfortable."-Jillian Micheals?

Jump into new opportunities and experiences. And that's what I'm going to do with this volunteering thing.

I might learn something incredible about myself or even learn something incredible about someone else.

“Familiarity can provide the misguided illusion of understanding. Assume nothing.” -Truth Devour

I just love my quotes!

So we'll see what I'll end up doing. And I'll blog all about it. See you soon ladies and gentlemen.

Wow, long tune no see

I originally made my post called wow, no long time no see but then stupid auto correct on my phone made the post called wow, long tune no see. I kind of liked it, so I kept the title because it can apply to life and its funny how crazy auto correct make you sound wiser for a change than sound really really stupid.

People can preach so much and not practice it and hate how they do this. I even go back on ,y word sometimes. Long tune, no see. I rant and ramble about people's foolishness just to make you laugh.

I hoped you laughed.

I talk about my life happenings and say how I wake up like a zombie every single day and waddle around doing absolutely nothing productive sometimes. Then I turn around and say how you can be positive.

Long tune, no see.

I pick apart people's bones and say how annoying they are but make myself sound like a perfect angel at times.

I say I'm constantly bored and then turn around and say how you can inspire yourself.

Long tune, no see. (what a weird little saying that totally makes sense now)

I don't know what lesson I'm trying create but I just want you be mindful of this constant humanized act. Yeah, everyone has there bad days, week, month, or even year. I guess I'm trying to say is reach for that lifestyle that you are trying to create.

Live that life with inspiration and positive or what ever you been preaching (as long as it is within reason, of course).

Originally, this post was about me apologizing about being gone for so long. But seriously nobody, including me, wants to hear a halfway apologetic post about nothing. That's useless.

Like my teacher said you can write a whole paper and make it grammatically correct but it says nothing.

Communication skills

On Friday, I was staying after school for tutoring. well, I wouldn't call it tutoring. I would call it extra help for this big test coming up about our "Summer reading" book, The Stealth of Nations. You could learn more about my frustrations with this book here and here. I use the term "summer reading" loosely because my teacher's communication skills aren't the best and failed to contact people about the book. In return, he said he would push the test back. This is good thing because I get extra days to study and prep fro the test. He even decided to have studying and tutoring sessions. I didn't  go to the first two thinking that I get the  gist of those chapters. I finally decided to buckle myself down and go to the chapter 9&10 session. I knew for sure that my teacher was going to drop hints and basically give us the answers on the test so I was ready to take notes and everything.

My friend and I  decided to go with me to the tutoring so we both went to the class after the last bell rang. We stalled a little bit but decided to go. We sat down and three other people were in there. We put down our stuff. I pulled out my book all ready to learn. The teacher started talking and said he was tired and didn't want to do the tutoring today. He gave us a fake yawn and everything. We laughed and sat down. He went back to clicking away on his computer.

A few minutes later the three of them left. The teacher was still clicking around on his computer. I pointed to my watch and then to the teacher. My friend shrugged. I asked my teacher if he was serious earlier about no tutoring today. He said yeah, I was serious. Bye.

I stood there shocked out of mind. What does he mean, tutoring is cancelled? I thought he was being sarcastic earlier. He's always sarcastic! You can tell how sarcastic he is because I italicized, underlined, and made "always" bold.

I told him I had my thinking cap on and was ready to learn. All he said in return without looking up from his computer was sorry. He let us sit there for twenty minutes.

The crazy man. He gets on my absolute nerves.

Both our rides weren't going to be there until an hour later so we went to my sister's practice which was boring as usual. I rather not go into detail about that. It's not important to the story.

When practice ended, my friend's ride was there. Our dad still was no where to be found. I called him and he said he was still at work and he would be there in 25 minutes. I didn't really care to hear that. He was supposed to be here already. I reminded him. My sister reminded him. My mom reminded him. By the way, he got there in 28 minutes.

All I did while I waited was roll my eyes and become angrier by the second. I was so mad. Nothing was going as planned.

I guess you could tell everyone's communication skills were just not working that day.

Inspiration

I haven't written a post in so long, and I missed my writing. To be honest, I haven't had any needs to rant and complain recently. Yup, I pretty much saying I apologize by not apologizing.

I hope you didn't forget about me while I was gone.

I have a ton of things to tell and hopefully I will sit myself down over the weekend and write constantly making up for the time I have lost. I'm sure if I squint hard enough (even though it is very unhealthy habit) I can find inspiration from life to talk to everyone about.

So my post idea for today is about inspiration.

I kind of picked this topic to make me write more. I haven't been writing at all. I basically blamed it on having to go school and spend hours doing homework that I procrastinated over. I think the first rule of inspiration is to...

1.  Find inspiration from your surroundings and what's going on with the world. This is the main contributor to ideas and inspiration.

2. When finding inspiration make sure it is something you are passionate about. (How else are you going to commit to it) In other words, if the idea isn't going to work, it is not going to work right now. I'm not telling you quit but you shouldn't waste time on something that doesn't add up.

3. I found this rule online which is don't drown in inspiration. I think this means that you should have focus and goal. I think I need to work on this one. I have some many ideas and objectives that none of them ever get done.
4. Sometimes you need to start with a clean slate. You should see the numerous drafts that I have and ultimately end of deleting them even though they were some good ideas but I had to do too much sorting to find them.

5. And finally, (cue the drum roll) I think the greatest way to inspire yourself is to inspire others.

That's why I wrote this post.

I hoped this inspired you to get back to work.

Strength

Thursday was seminar day. Seminar is where a group of people come together and discuss a topic based on text that everyone has read. So we read this except from The Giver by Lois Lowry.

The was about Jonas, the main character, talking to the giver about emotions and the word love. The boy goes home with this memory that the Giver shows him which is his family. He says he feels this warmth present in the room. The Giver says it is love. The boy goes home and asks if his parents love him. They laugh at his face, essentially, and say love is foolish, vague word. They say love is too generalized and that he should use precise language. They correct him and give him suitable questions that he could have said like "are you proud on my accomplishments?" but they never really answer the boy. He gets disappointed.

I have to say this is most I ever talked in seminar. I never really talk in seminars. I probably talked in front of group about seven times which was pretty awesome. I felt comfortable and confident talking to the group which is ironic because I nearly disagreed with everything most people said. It was only like two people I agreed with for the most part.

We got to the point in the seminar where we were talking about what is a family does a family have if they don't have love. A person said respect. I said tolerance which goes along with what they were saying. Then we started talking about what is a family. A person said a blood relationship. Another person actually said a family is composed of a strong man and a woman standing behind him along with the kids.
In seminar when you don't agree with them you don't full out argue with them. You have to debate. You can't attack them but I wanted to so badly.

They made me so angry. A strong man and woman standing behind him along with the children.
When he said his opinion I was like...

With little thought I asked about single moms as an example that opposed his ideal thought. I felt little bit offended.  Just a little bit but I am sure the guy didn't mean to offend anybody. He is nice but that statement kind of got under my skin a little bit.

A family doesn't have to be blood related or the perfect male and female spouse as the head of the family. It can be any group of people that have a strong, mutual care and love for each other.

And of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I absolutely disagreed with his statement when it was suggested in seminar and I just had to blog about it.

My optimistic Day

Before I went to sleep Last night, I told myself that I was going to have a great day tomorrow. Sometimes you just need that extra boost from your self conscious. I work up dreading going to school but cheered myself up with eating a good breakfast and wearing my favorite pair of jeans which is purple (the color of royalty).

Fake it until you make it.
I went to school and had a pretty crappy first period but I had my friends there with me. My second period we had an assembly and somehow I ended up sitting alone. I don't know how that happened. My third class was ok. My lunch was as normal as ever. My fourth class was really good. My sixth class was gym and it was full of giggles ( I'm shocked too). My seventh class was good and I absolutely adore my Spanish teacher. (And no, I didn't skip fifth period. We don't have fifth period on Fridays. The schedule is so strange, I know.)

It seemed like  every class I went to I had a greater determination to have a good day. And it helped me get through the day and actually have some fun.

I had a good day. Not the greatest but it was a nice end to my hectic school week.

And if all else fails...

Red Light

So a few days ago (Sunday), I was reading on Wattpad. The main teenage girl started talking about how both parents were killed in a car crash. Both. Admittedly since the author didn't elaborate about the girl's situation, I amused that the author just didn't want to add two more characters to the mix. Some stories drop like huge detail on the character and leave it hanging like it is no big deal.  I thought how cliche and unrealistic can you get. The author didn't make or set up the scene to create an impact.  It just didn't seem real.

Later that afternoon, my mom was talking about how my dad and her went to take back the rental minivan that we had rented for our weekend getaway. They just finished dropping off the minivan. They wet to pick up our dog at the boarders. They stopped at the light that was broken a few days ago. Traditional when you the light stops working you treat as if it was a four way stop. Anyway, the light was working this time. It just turned green.

Here comes this big company truck speeding and running the red light just right before my mom was about to make a left turn with my dad in the passenger's seat. The truck ran the second light down the road, but stopped at the third. THEY FINALLY STOPPED AT THE THIRD INTERSECTION. Why would they go through all that trouble and almost seriously injure my family to only go a few hundred feet down the road? That doesn't make sense, obviously. I just want to express to that person how stupid of a move they made. Then, I snap back to reality and realize that would never work. They wouldn't understand. And even if they did understand they would go back and act like I said nothing to them.

Has anybody heard the term you better check yourself before you wreck yourself. That person would have literally wrecked himself, the company truck, my parents, and our car.

My mom told me see wish she got the licence plate and reported him to his company. Honestly, I don't think that would have helped much. It probably wouldn't help at all.

It didn't seem real. It felt like I was reading the story I read earlier that day.

Nature girl

(Grrr, somehow blogger make this post into a draft with out me knowing it. It deleted the the comment that I saw later in my email. Blogger has mind of its own. Ok so here it goes. I'm going to write this post over again even though I barely remember what I wrote. So that technically makes my 100th post my 99th but shhh don't tell anyone. Technically.)

I am not a nature girl, but nature is so beautiful. I hate outside. I never really liked going outside. I do not like sweat or smell from outside. I hate it. I been trying to appreciate being outside more. Well, I been force to appreciate being outside.

A few days ago I saw a deer that has been lingering in my grandparent's neighborhood. It was just munching on grass not having a care in the world. That deer must have been use to people because it didn't seem frazzled by our  appearance.

That's when i realized that Nature is beautiful. I wish I was a nature girl. Then I snap back to reality and say that will never happen. Never.

A Real Draw My Life

I was doing my daily rounds on the internet yesterday and of course that meant my usual trip down YouTube lane. I found a song about a nipple ring that grew out of someone's body.

Weird but a great song. One of the comments said it is more than just a nipple ring song.

I watched Hello, Harto and a bunch of other videos.

I found one video that actually made me tear up and I'm not the crying-touchy-feely-person:

Flawless: A book Review, I think

I finished this book I was reading called Flawless.
It has been one of those books that I read all it in a just a few days which is rare for me because I have a very picky taste in books and a busy schedule (I pretend to have a busy schedule, but in reality I just have a lot of unfinished projects and a short attention span if I'm not interested).

I really enjoyed this book. Yes, it is predictable, but it is so funny how the author tells the story. I loved how the author gave the main character, Sarah, a voice.

The novel is a modern retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac.

The Sarah and Kristen are both partners in crime of getting this guy named Rock to fall for Kristen even though Sarah likes him too.

"At first when I heard the name Rock I instantly thought of The Rock, duh. Who wouldn't?" My inner girly-girl voice says. Then once I got to know the character, he was a honest, smart person.

To the characters, he is whole packet and more. The book is pretty self-explanatory on the back cover which says:
Sarah loves Rock.
Kristen loves Rock.
Rock loves ?????

And honestly I don't know why I picked up the book. The summary to me didn't really capture the good of the book. Yes, those lines are the gist of the book, but the gist of the book is so boring and predictable. The detail and characters make the story enjoyable and that's what I love about the book.

Letter to incoming high school freshmen:

Since today is my last day of my freshmen year of high school I though I would make a letter to future freshmen if they have anxiety towards a new environment and new standards. So here is my letter to the upcoming freshmen class:

Dear incoming freshmen,

I know you may nervous for a new year I school. Especially seen it is your freshmen year and you might want to change everything about you like a fresh start. High school is a fresh start and this year does count.

You have heard that there is thing called a GPA and you need a good one to get accepted into college and get scholarships. You need a good GPA. You can't fool around and get into drama (especially for the girls) and fights. I watched too many people this year throw everything away over a guy or they simply hate a person. If you hate a person so much why

Last Day of Freshmen Year

Today was my last day of school. It was crazy. Exams. Hugs. Goodbyes.

The thing is about the last day of school you are so happy to be away and have a good break from the teachers and the stress, but at the same time you are letting go of friends and saying goodbyes for awhile.

Sure you might see that person a few times, but nothing like everyday at school. Then you have that one friend or few friends that are moving schools and it feels like they are moving away from your entire life.

The Thing is goodbyes are never forever. It is a small world.

why I started a blog

Why did I start a blog?
Um originally I always wanted to write something about my life and tell everyone what was going on. I wanted to have this open diary type thing. Little did I know that is a blog kinda is. I use to, and still do, keep journals but not  about crushes, secret admires, and fights. I talked about school. Fun and funny things that happened to me. Even sad stuff.
I wanted somebody, usually my future self, sitting in chair filled with hot tea laughing in chair about my past.

The first step towards a blog was actually me creating a website. It was, now deleted, theddshow.weebly.com. It fun my mom actually introduced it to me when she was reading the paper (remember when people actually did that 'read the newspaper'). It fun while it lasted. Weebly was good to me when they were brand new but then it was a real pain in the butt. It started loading stuff slowly and didn't corporate with my many pictures.

Plus as they got bigger they started charging to like the extremes all the former free stuff was basically gone. Was a disappointment. One of my biggest disappoints though was weebly didn't help promote your site on google (that was before bing). You had to self promote which at the time I really didn't know how. It was quite awful. I was a kid though. Give me a break.

I think at was about year and some months and that's when I was still just playing around and had tons of goals. I became invested in the idea baking and cooking. I wanted to create a food blog. The thing about this is I was excited about the idea. I didn't actually want bake or cook. What was I thinking?

My second blog was about my overwhelming passion of running. Yeah I'm still on a mission to get 1000 miles at some point. Don't really have a time line. Just a hobby. I wanted to educate people of the art if running. Who is really going to listen to a teenage girl that hardly knows what she is talking about. Not me. Running is not what my whole life centers around.

My last and my current blog which is my DD show showcases my life. Not a part of it but all of my life (of course some stuff is classified though, I don't want stalkers and people watching me like I'm some type of "reality" show).

When I actually started my DD Show it was for the wrong reasons, but now (for the most part) I got everything figured out. Stay tuned for part two of why I started a blog: how my current blog started in the wrong direction. This is only part one because frankly it is a long story.

Bye buddies.

P.S. I got another follower for my blog. Thanks Misha for the support.
stay tuned....

dream #4: murder mystery

U haven't done a dream in my dream journal for so long. I feel like I have to apologize or something. Then I'm like what do I have to apologize for. This is my blog. Anyway getting back on track about the dream journal thing. (My mind wanders way too much).

I have this dream about being in this reality murder mystery show like that upcoming ABC show 'Whodunnit?'.
You can except I'll be watching it when it airs in June by the way. Anyways, I was in this cafĂ©. Maybe it was a restaurant. I don't know. Me, being my close future adult self, was drinking some wine observing everybody. For some reason, even though I was fully independent, had my dad there. I saw this lady leaving the restaurant.

I looked at my dad and said I would be right back and I had left something in the car. I lied to him. He gave me the keys to car and I was off. I ran to this sidewalk and almost bumped into the lady. I looked at her and said "You did it". I really don't know what I was talking about, but apparently she committed some type of crime. She gave me a confused face and said "How dare you".

I knew she couldn't escape because for some reason she couldn't walk off of the sidewalk. Strange. I had her cornered and I knew I would win the cash award for solving the mystery. My dad came out of the restaurant asking what was I doing. He interrupted the big cat fight that was about to happen.
That guy is what makes this funny. Why does a crowd find this entertaining? I find the crowd entertaining if anything.

Or maybe the fight would have looked something like this:

why do they always grab the hair? They both look like a mess.

Then, my stupid alarm clock woke me up like most of my dreams. Ugh. I never know if she really did commit the crime.

When I woke up I was so hopping that since  had the car keys in my hand that the dream would turn into an awesome car chase.

Bye ladies and gentlemen. BTW and PS and all that: fighting over insufficient stuff is a waste of time even if you are heated for the moment. I will talk more about it in a future post.
