DIVERGENT

This may contain spoilers.

I just finished reading Divergent a few days ago. In short, wow.

I don't know how I feel how the first book ended. I just know Divergent really was exciting.

The book didn't start up like I thought but was definitely a page turner around the middle of the book.

I don't want to give away any spoilers but Beatrice was awesome. I admire the parts in the book where she shows her bravery. The small little details are the things that really make a book for me. I love how Beatrice goes to the tattoo parlor to represent her past. I also like how Veronica Roth uses the theme that selflessness and bravery are often the same thing.

I really love how the pit was depicted in my mind. I pictured it as the inside of an ant hill with its many tunnels and hallways. I think it a place that you could easily get lost in.

I hope the Divergent movie depicts the book well like the Catching Fire movie accomplished.

I can't wait to read the Second book which is on hold at the library right now. Hopefully, I will able to read it soon.

I took a couple of tests to determine my faction and concluded that I belong to the Candor Faction: I value honesty.

Remember faction before blood

Book summary (you should really read it if you haven't yet):

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
Veronica Roth is the New York Times bestselling author of Divergent, the first in a trilogy of dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.

My New Love

I absolutely love the Mortal Instruments Series by: Cassandra Clare.

I'm on the third book which is the City of Glass.

I would highly encourage this series.

What's it about?
1st Book's Description (The City of Bones):

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

Why is it amazing?

In my opinion the characters are more important than anything. More important than the plot, setting, or writing style. The characters make the story. Clare nailed it when it came to the characters. I love the dialogue and how the characters interact with each other.

They always have something snappy to say at the other. It is amazing how they get anything done in the books so far.

I'll right an updated version of this review when I finish all the books. So far, so good.

Did you hear, it's a movie too?

The movie wasn't the best but the dialogue from the book was pretty much the same which I loved. The ity of Bones didn't get much praise but it wasn't a complete fail. Despite the critics, rumors has spread that the second book the City of Ashes is set in pre-production. They're changing up a lot of things to make it a really big success. I hope the 2nd movie is spot on like the Catching Fire Adaption.

Summer Reading Projects

I love reading, but summer reading projects are not the same. It's called summer break for a reason.

A teacher picks out this boring book that you end up having to do a report or take a test about. Usually after you read the book and take a test over it, you never hear about that book again. Then it pops up on the final exam and your like: I don't remember anything from that book. What was the name of it again?

That's me. I been reading this book called The Stealth of Nations. It is about the economy and stuff like that. It is really boring and it's not because of the topic. It is because of the author. The way he writes seems like you're in a conversation with a very interesting person, but he's super boring. He's a details man. He rambles. He says the same thing like three times and then moves to a complete opposite standpoint. It is like he's having a conversation with himself and your on the side nodding in agreement with him.

Personal, I lost interest in the book and it has been such a drag reading it. I think this 258-small-print-paged book could be chopped in half and still made sense and have all the information in it.

After reading a good 40 pages on the book I found Neuwirth, the author, on this website talking about his book to an audience in Europe. After watching the video, I had a new respect. Watching him on that stage, it made the book earlier to understand. In that 15 minutes of talking he basically summed up his book.

His book doesn't seem like him. He is not a rambler or boring. I think it is time I give this book a second chance. (Plus, my grade depends on it. I have no choice.)

Flawless: A book Review, I think

I finished this book I was reading called Flawless.
It has been one of those books that I read all it in a just a few days which is rare for me because I have a very picky taste in books and a busy schedule (I pretend to have a busy schedule, but in reality I just have a lot of unfinished projects and a short attention span if I'm not interested).

I really enjoyed this book. Yes, it is predictable, but it is so funny how the author tells the story. I loved how the author gave the main character, Sarah, a voice.

The novel is a modern retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac.

The Sarah and Kristen are both partners in crime of getting this guy named Rock to fall for Kristen even though Sarah likes him too.

"At first when I heard the name Rock I instantly thought of The Rock, duh. Who wouldn't?" My inner girly-girl voice says. Then once I got to know the character, he was a honest, smart person.

To the characters, he is whole packet and more. The book is pretty self-explanatory on the back cover which says:
Sarah loves Rock.
Kristen loves Rock.
Rock loves ?????

And honestly I don't know why I picked up the book. The summary to me didn't really capture the good of the book. Yes, those lines are the gist of the book, but the gist of the book is so boring and predictable. The detail and characters make the story enjoyable and that's what I love about the book.
